New Signal at Harvard and Berkeley Intersection
I just have to share because I’m so excited - months ago I submitted a complaint with the city of Irvine for the four way stop sign intersection at Harvard and Berkeley. I see cars speed through it without stopping all the time, and on two occasions when I’ve been walking to Mason park I had male drivers come to a complete stop, let me get a portion of the way through the intersection, then floor it and speed at me. As a young woman I think this was intentional, especially considering how both made direct eye contact with me as they sped past me while I was standing in the middle of the intersection (lots of nice people will wait for me to cross and are so kind, but those two instances were enough to really scare me).
Today I got this voicemail saying that a new signal would be installed there!
I’m just so grateful this is being taken seriously - I honestly get so anxious and have to psyche myself up any time I have to walk across this intersection, I’ve even just started waiting until all or most cars are gone before crossing because it’s so scary. Yay Irvine! 🥳
