Moving to NYC and living comfortably
My husband and I (both 31) are looking to relocate from OC, CA to NYC - specifically looking at Brooklyn/Queens. We make around $230-$250k combined. Is this enough to rent a decent place and live comfortably in the city? We would have no debts and are child free, but we have a dog. We want to experience what it’s like living in a city where we can walk to places to go eat, go to a bar, or grocery shop, etc. What neighborhoods would you suggest we look at? Places we had in mind were Astoria, Williamsburg, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, and Downtown Brooklyn. I may need to occasionally commute to Midtown Manhattan for work, so not being too far commute-wise would be ideal.
Also, we’d like a cozy lively neighborhood. Nightlife is not super important to us. We enjoy going on runs, going to the gym, trying to new restaurants (any type of food) or getting coffee, going out to bars/breweries and going to concerts. We’d like a neighborhood that is also dog friendly.
We’d be open to a 1bd but would like 2bd as we’d both be working remotely more than half of the time.
