Spicy brown mustard binder. Random concoction of spices. Hickory and cherry wood.

We inherited a garden with many good plants which have over the years been overtaken by tall goldenrod. I’ve been digging out survivors and found this peony. Looks in rough shape. Diagnosis? Care? It was completely swallowed up by the goldenrod, so it is going from probably not enough light to plenty of light. Heavy rains recently, more rain to come.
