Thoughts on how Arsenal’s victory is being celebrated in Ethiopia?

My two cents is that it’s all so strange. Is it because football seems to be the only entertainment available to most Ethiopians that people have now started identifying with English clubs even more so than the English themselves? Or perhaps it’s because more Ethiopians are now globally connected? I’m not even being overly judgmental. Just confused after seeing a grown-ass man crying over how “Hachalu didn’t get to see this day.” Apparently, Hachalu was an Arsenal fan, but I doubt he actually cared this much and would celebrate like this given everything going on in the country. I even saw a video of OLA soldiers dancing all dressed in Arsenal jerseys lol. From Jawar to Workneh Gebeyehu to Getachew Reda… the whole country feels like it was a forgotten British colony 😭

What do guys you make of it?

Anti Addis Ababa forces such as Fano, TPLF, OLA, ONLF, GPLF and ANRUF held a meeting with pro Asmara activists in Port Sudan.

Gudiidhaam 🤭

More excerpts from Lencho’s book.

He says Waqo Gutu and Hussien Bune were among the leaders of the Somali Abbo liberation Front. Included is Adam Jillo- all three one of the icons of modern Oromo nationalism :-)

Another interesting information Lencho reveals is how Magarsa Bari helped translate between Mengistu and Adam Jillo when the latter was brought to Finfinne for investigation, suspected of working with Somalis. Magarsa Bari then was the deputy governor of Bale Kifle Hager. He would later become OLF’s first chairman.

Here is to a man who (along with others) changed Ethiopia forever.

I’m not saying he didn’t make any mistakes or he did this on his own. Just happy that he could get this recognition given his contribution in the Oromo struggle. I can’t wait to read this book and I hope the author managed to get him to open up. (People of his generation take shit to their graveyard lol)

How does TikTok just randomly shutdown people’s account?

Jawar’s TikTok garnered over 1 million followers within 24 hours of his opening it only to be closed due to mass reporting, I assume? He didn’t even do anything besides saying “TikTokii bane jiraa. Na hordofaa.”

Does being mass reported= ‘bad people’ as far as TikTok is concerned. I don’t use it, which makes this whole thing all the more confusing.

Just wondering if you’re all for it or against it? I kid you not, I had a conversation with someone who went on about how Jawar is creating unnecessary drama by exposing folks like Hailu Gonfa and other officials. We are a puzzling people, for sure.

What impact has it had on OPDO’s grip on power so far or will have in the future?

The consensus seems to be that she ended her life because of the hateful comments she used to receive across her social media platforms. It’s just sad … 😞
