i made a list of our current squad, without players on loan in or out. if we assume icardi stays, we basically can’t make any foreign transfers unless someone leaves.

considering we performed well in europe and already have enough quality to dominate the league, we should focus on some other important factors in our transfer strategy. we still have 2 or 3 spots left on the talent list (+4). hopefully this year we use them better and bring in at least two young players with near top-level potential.

personally, i wouldn’t extend icardi, but instead go for a foreign number 10, a creative midfielder like mertens, someone who can help us break down deep and compact defenses. a player with high football iq. that should be our main target.

we can cover osimhen’s absence by using barış up front, or by signing can uzun, bertuğ, deniz gül or enes ünal (my least favorite option because of injuries and age).

a logical follow-up move would be aral şimşir. 23 years old, excellent form this season. assuming barış stays and becomes the second striker, aral would make a lot of sense.

also, if we want to keep the hunger and mentality to stay champions, we need to refresh the squad. and painfully, i think that means saying goodbye to torreira and davinson because of their inconsistency. honestly, the same goes for sallai, singo, jakobs and sara if good offers arrive. except maybe sara, and partly sallai, i don’t really see them as reliable enough to take luxury foreign spots under the current rules.

but then comes the real key topic of this transfer window: turkish players abroad. i genuinely believe that having a strong turkish core is one of the biggest keys to winning the league. we need to keep that group fresh, deep and high quality.

my must-have turkish targets:

aral şimşir - we lack creativity from the left side, and with aral we can use barış as striker.
ozan kabak - academy kid, doing well in europe, and not as a replacement for davinson, but as an extra quality defender.
hakan çalhanoğlu - my only doubt is whether we can use him properly. he plays as a regista at inter, but our style is different, so i’m not sure we would get the best out of him.
zeki çelik - a must-have, because we don’t really have a natural right back. especially if sallai leaves, he should be one of the first names we go for.
unpopular opinion: yusuf akçiçek - came through our academy, still young, and not really playing much at al hilal. abdulkerim is getting older every day, so bringing yusuf back as an alternative could be a smart move.
