Dental anesthesia residency

Hello,
I have been out of school for 3 years. My rank is bottom third of the class ( embarrassing bad) and I am in my mid thirties. How realistic is it for me to pursue dental anesthesiology? I have no wife or kids so I can study for the cbse exam and work part time if needed.
Thank you

Implant pathway vs Maxi course

Hello,
I am considering taking an Implant CE. I have taken the Hiossen course in the past and placed a number of implants since then. I am considering taking additional CE and I am torn between implant pathway and Maxicouse.
Which one do you recommend?

1099/S corp and IBR plan

Hello,

I'm trying to understand whether this strategy actually works in practice.

I was reading on StudentAid.gov that under the current IBR rules, once you make your required payment, unpaid interest may be covered for a limited period.

My question is about using an S corp as a 1099 associate.

Since IBR payments are based on AGI, if you pay yourself a reasonable salary through the S corp and keep the rest as distributions, does that actually lower the AGI used to calculate your IBR payment? Or do the S corp pass-through profits still count toward AGI, making little or no difference?

Has anyone here actually done this as an associate dentist

Going Rural… immigrant edition

Hello everyone,
I wanted to get some perspective from people who may have been in a similar situation.
I’m a foreign-trained dentist with over $300k in student loans, and I’ve been practicing for about two years. I’m in my mid thirties.
Financially, I’m nowhere near where I thought I’d be by now, and I’m already starting to feel the physical toll that dentistry can take on the body.
I’ve always heard the advice to move to a rural area because you can make more money, have a lower cost of living, and pay less in taxes. But I’m wondering if that advice really applies to someone in my situation.
I’m already dealing with some mental health struggles from being away from my family, living in a different country, and not having much of a support system. I imagine it’s easier for someone who grew up here to move to a rural town and build a life there. For someone like me, coming from a different culture and being a person of color, I feel like there are additional challenges that people don’t always talk about.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did moving to a rural area end up being worth it, or did the isolation outweigh the financial benefits? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences.

Hello,

I have a health condition that may limit my ability to practice dentistry long term. I am considering pivoting toward injectables (fillers and Botox), sleep appliances, and aligners only at some point in the future.

Do you think I could be hired as an associate to provide only these services, potentially within a large group practice?

Hello,

I run a heavy delta dental ppo practice and sometimes I have light production days. I want to do same day treatment but not sure how to approach it. I have been told that we always need to send a pre authorization to insurance otherwise we run the risk of having the claims denied and patients paying out of pocket. How do go about it while reducing the possibility of claim denial?

Hello,

I want to start implementing Curadont in my practice. It’s a heavy delta dental office. How much should I charge for it? I’m in north California. Also, I am thinking of having the hygienists do it so I would probably give them like an incentive ( maybe 5$ per treatment) or something.

Should I submit it to Delta or charge the patient out of pocket? Or charge per tooth?
