Reading the footnotes in Robert Alter's translation of Genesis, he states that the text has an "antiurban bias" (urban meaning sedentary agriculture).

Is this a common interpretation? Are there scholarly theories or discussions about if/why the Genesis text/author(s) takes this polemical stance?

This is a short film commissioned in the 1980s by the Episcopal News Service. I don't think it was available online until today.
