Why Was My Total Loss Car Valuation Done Through My Insurance Instead of the At-Fault Party’s Insurance?

I was involved in a non-fault accident in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and my car was declared a total loss.
What I do not understand is why the vehicle valuation and compensation assessment were handled through my insurance company instead of the at-fault party’s insurance company.
My insurance applied depreciation deductions under the UAE unified policy and reduced the compensation amount by around 20% based on the insurance period.
My concerns/questions are:
Since I am the non-fault party, why was the valuation not conducted through the at-fault party’s insurance?

Is it standard in UAE total loss claims for depreciation to still apply even when the accident was caused by another driver?

Can insurance companies legally reduce compensation this way for a non-fault party?

Can I challenge the vehicle valuation amount itself if I believe the market value is higher?

Should I request an independent valuation report?

Is this considered normal practice in UAE motor insurance claims, or should I formally dispute the process?
