Tub/Shower Rough in Question

Hi I ripped out a leaking tub to replace, and discovered the framing for length is more than 60 inches. Photo shown it is about 61” on the top and 60.75” on the bottom.

Going to be installing a Kohl’s sterling ensemble tub with direct to stud surround, the specs require a 60 1/8 to 60 1/4 stud to stud measurement.

How should I best build out the walls to accomplish this? To avoid issues with blending the flange to the existing drywall after, I was thinking split the difference and fur out the studs on both sides. Does that make sense or is there a better way?
