What’s your favorite I Ching hexagram?

Hi Reddit!

I’m curious which hexagrams people here feel the most connected to.

For me, I would have to go with hexagram 24 (Return). I really like the idea of returning to your path after getting lost and going through a period of uncertainty. There’s something comforting about the idea that you don’t necessarily have to figure everything out at once. Sometimes, you just have to find your way back.

I’m still pretty new to the I-ching, so I’m sure my interpretation is pretty basic, but that’s what stood out to me about it.

Do you have a favorite hexagram? Is there one that keeps showing up in your readings, or one whose message has stuck?

What kinds of questions do you usually ask the I Ching?

I've been getting more interested in how differently people actually use the I Ching. I tend to think of it as something you can turn to when you're at a crossroads or trying to understand a situation, but I'm curious what everyone else's practice looks like.

Do you mostly ask about:

  • Relationships or friendships?
  • Career and major life decisions?
  • Personal growth or spiritual questions?
  • Situations where you feel stuck?
  • Future possibilities?
  • Understanding another person's behavior or intentions?
  • More open-ended questions like "What do I need to know right now?"

I'm also curious whether people tend to ask very specific questions ("Should I take this job?") or more reflective questions ("What do I need to understand about this job opportunity?").

And do you usually ask the same question multiple times when you don't like the answer, or do you treat the first reading as something to sit with?

Would love to hear what kinds of readings everyone here finds the most useful.
