Bollywood is really a remake machine?

We’ve had remakes of South Indian films, Hollywood movies, older Bollywood classics, and even stories that were already successful in another language. Sometimes the remake works, but many times it feels like Bollywood is taking an already-proven formula instead of taking a risk with a fresh idea.

If the ₹4000 Cr budget was never revealed, the Ramayana trailer would've faced much less criticism

I genuinely think the biggest mistake wasn't the trailer, it was revealing the reported ₹4000 crore budget so early. Once people heard that number, their expectations went through the roof. Every VFX shot, costume, and frame started being judged against what people imagined a ₹4000 crore movie should look like. If the budget had stayed private until after release, I feel most viewers would've focused more on the story, performances, and overall presentation instead of constantly asking, "This is what ₹4000 crore looks like?" It feels like the budget became part of the marketing, but it also raised the bar so high that even a decent trailer couldn't escape comparisons and criticism.

r/BollyBlindsNGossip is no more gossip subreddit

Back before 2026, the sub had actual gossip, insider stories, industry discussions, and interesting "tea" that made it unique. Not every post was accurate, of course, but there was at least something to discuss.

Now, my feed is mostly filled with Instagram photos, reels, airport looks, gym sightings, birthday posts, and promotional content that has already been seen on every other social media platform. It often feels more like an Instagram repost page than a gossip subreddit.

I'm also noticing that these types of posts tend to generate easy karma, while discussion-based posts or alleged industry tea rarely gain the same visibility or sometimes don't seem to stay up for long. Whether that's because of community preference or moderation, I don't know, but the balance definitely feels different.

I really hope the subreddit can return to what made it popular in the first place:

  • Actual Bollywood gossip and insider stories.
  • Meaningful industry discussions.
  • Lesser-known facts and rumors (with healthy skepticism).
  • Fewer low-effort Instagram reposts that everyone has already seen.

I'm not asking for fake rumors or misinformation, just for the sub to feel like a gossip community again instead of another celebrity fan page.
