So there is this new app called TryKuro available on mac and windows, It claims to pay you for using your laptop and letting the app run in the background.

I have surfed through all the information and their code of conducts and these are

my findings.

The app continuously runs in the background. (default is launch with startup but you can disable it) and it screen records everything. EVERYTHING. The app does show (paused recording) when opening any messasing app like whatsapp or discord but on gmail or outlook.

It requires 2 permission to function, screen capture and input capture, Yes this is what hackers need. but company behing trykuro markov claims it wont capture sensitive information like password managers and bank information. STILL YOUR HIGHLY SENSITIVE INFORMATION IS YOUR RISK. ONLY YOUR RISK.

the app will then capture the data and then upload it out of which the idle time is filtered out the data is categorized according to the task you were doing and you get paid according to it.

Personal Experience: I decided to download it after logging out of whatsapp and my private messaging apps. There is no confidential or sensitive information like personal photos on my laptop.

I ran the app and did what i do usually, browse reddit (recorded) watched youtube (didnt record due to inactivity), played a game (pubg and got paid), played another game (modulus factory operation got paid), browsed amazon and meesho (got paid).
Overall i used my laptop for 6 hours with on and off having a break, with total time i spent in front of the screen around 3-4 hours.

The app recorded 2hours 10mins of screen time and paid me 378rs. I requested a checkout at 350rs the minimum limit is 300.

My checkout is being processed and they say it takes 7 days, today is day 1 the day i receive my payout i will update this.

Caution: The app will sell your data, markov labs claim they will make your data anoymous but lets be honest the companies to whom they will sell your data will 100% try to link the data back to you if not you then people of your group.

There is no data available about who are the founders of these apps. The company is based in India and all payouts are by UPI in INR.

Markov labs doesnt claim any responsibility if their tool trykuro accidentaly captures sensitive information about you. That solely lies on you.

The payout is good but its good only because there is a risk factor in it.

If you are a student with nothing confidential on your laptop sure give it a try, but if you have something personal or something that can harm you or others if it gets public then refrain from downloading such apps, because idk why but this app was continuously using my disk space maybe it was for storing and uploading the screen recordings or the app was skimming through all my files, idk.
