Best stp 3 song run on an album?

Best stp 3 song run on an album?

What is the best 3 song run in the discography?

First Kiss on Mars - Maver - About a Fool. Easily the best 3 songs on the 2010 album. Super enjoyable and about a fool is one of the best stp songs. (Im aware about a fool is only a bonus track on the deluxe edition, i still think it should count).

Creep - Piece of Pie - Plush. The classic run from Core. 3 amazing and iconic stp songs.

I Got You - MC5 - Atlanta. 3 amazing songs on no. 4, 3 of the songs I listen to the most on No. 4.

Wonderful - Black Again - Hello Its Late - 3 of the most heart wrenching stp ballads and 3 of their best songs.

Whats your top 10 stp songs?

You guys know the drill.

1 Adhesive - This song doesnt get talked about too much, but in my opinion it blows the rest of the stp songs out of the water. This song is so significantly above than the rest of the bands discography (not to say their discography is bad, its amazing, adhesive is just better). It has aspect to me that feel similar to prog rock music (the chorus on adhesive kinda sounds like the chorus on king crimsons court of the Crimson King title track), and the trumpet solo is a perfect artistic choice.

2 Too Cool Queenie - The most effortlessly cool stp song. Its short and sweet with one of my all time favorite guitar solos. Its heroic and meaningful and will always hold a special place to me.

3 And So I Know - Another very underrated song off of Tiny Music. This song has some kf the most beautiful moments in any stp song. The guitar solo is amazing and the little hidden piano solo near the end is just wow.

4 Bi Polar Bear - Its really just the part from 4:00to the end. Idek how to describe its like sitting in a green field in the spring with a light breeze, just wow. Beyond moving.

5 Pops Love Suicide - Scotts voice definitely takes some getting used to on this one, but once u get used to it its perfection. The dark and groovy riffs mixed with the dark lyrics create a cool and aggressive atmosphere, and the solo at the end is amazing.

6 Hello Its Late - The guitar solo on this song is my favorite guitar solo on any song ever. Idk how to describe that feeling, its like flying past the sun. This song feels exactly like its name, like driving through a desert at night alone.

7 Trippin - I dont think I have to say much for this one, what a song, what a solo.

8 A Song for Sleeping - Such a sweet song tor scotts son, but to me it reminds me of how my mom probably looked at me, which is incredibly special.

9 Daisy - A really cool instrumental. An entire story is told through 2 guitars, and its just such an emotional song. I love stripped back stuff like this.

10 Hollywood Bitch - I love love love how groovy and cool the different sections of this song are. I wish it had some form of solo cause then it would be even better, but still.

My list ended up just alternating SLDD and tiny music, oops. But those are my 2 favorites so ig it works. :P

Honorable mentions: Big Empty, Plush (acoustic MTV headbanger), Ride the Cliche, Glide, Pruno, Atlanta, First Kiss on Mars, Maver

First Kiss on Mars

No I am not a bot, this isn't a bot post. First kiss on mars is easily my favorite song on the 2010 album , and honestly probably in my top 10 stp songs. I dont like the 2010 album very much, but first kiss on mars is such a standout to me that it genuinely floors me every time I listen to it. It feels like hanging out with your friends on a warm summer night. Its just cheery and alive. Im surprised it seems to be one of the less popular songs off the album when to me it has a lot of mainstream pop appeal. Its rated really low on album of the year and I cant figure out why. Its definitely the most david Bowie stp song, but Bowies really popular so I feel like that should make it more popular. Thoughts? Dare if you dare, maver, and about a fool are also amazing songs that i listen to a lot. Yes im a yt music user.

STP 2018 is genuinely good

Its genuinely an enjoyable album. The songs are grungier and catchier than stp 2010. Stp 2010 was objectively a really weak record I think, but 2018 actually has really good mood and atmosphere, I think people (including me) just hate to see Scott replaced. I enjoy almost all of the songs on here as opposed to the 3 I like on 2010. Its not as good as most of their earlier stuff, but six eight and roll me under are definitely 2 of my favorite stp sk gs.

What yall think of the 3 albums released after SLDD (2010, 2018, perdida)

What do you guys think of the 3 albums released more recently. With stp 2010, dare if you dare, first kiss on mars, and macer are three of my favorite stp songs (and then about a fool if that counts), but beyond those tracks the album is beyond souless and lacks cohesion. It comes off as really forced and kinda lame, especially songs like between the lines and fast as you can. Hickory dichotomy is by a mile my least favorite stp song. Stp 2018 is actually pretty enjoyable, I think its underrated. Theres some decent granger and more authentic sounding rock songs on here. Roll me unders probably my favorite, it sounds like show me how to live by audioslave. It sucks to see Scott replaced by someone so similar sounding to him, but i think Gutt does a pretty good job all things considered, his voice is just mixed weird which is annoying. Perdida is actually a really good album. I think I enjoy it more than no. 4, my least favorite of the original 5 (dont kill me). Gutts voice is mixed kinda odd but it works better for me on this album. The slow and melodic bossa, Blues, and ballad guitar stuff is really cool. The different instrumentation is cool and reminds me of the parisian french jazz band san lyon (look them up theyre amazing). Its hard to match those original 5 albums, but I think perdida id the closest they've gotten, and 2018 isn't bad. 2010 is a rough flail out in my opinion though.

Ranking shangri la dee da

Since I've already done the appreciation post, let's do the ranking post. For all the other shangri la fans out there, how woukd you ranking the albums songs. Id love to hear people's thoughts on the individual songs too.

My ranking:

  1. Too Cool Queenie - has been and always will be the best song on shangri la. This song is just so effortlessly cool its intoxicating. Amazing dean solo too.

  2. Hello Its Late - This song captures exactly what the title says. It feels like walking through an empty grocery store parking lot at night. That solo might be the best moment in music for me. Indescribable

  3. Bi-Polar Bear - One of the most beautiful final minutes to any song ever. The guitar work as sublime as always. Dean is probably my favorite 90s 2000s guitarist i cant lie.

  4. A Song for Sleeping - One of the sweetest and most magical songs ever. Such a nice song for his son. Some really good lyrical content with Scott in general throughout his career.

  5. Hollywood Bitch - A really cool underrated banger. What an amazinggggg chorus and prechorus.

  6. Black Again - This is also a really underrated deep cut. A cool ballad, it reminds me of 70s pop music.

  7. Days of the Week - Such a fun and groovy beatles-esque song. Definitely my favorite stp music video. It just represents the carefree, groovy, and overall fun nature of this album.

  8. Wonderful - I feel like this song had the potential to be one of their biggest songs up there with stuff like vasoline. Why was it never released as a single? It wouldve been like hugely popular poser music. Cool song.

  9. Transmissions - I love this song. Just because its so low down (haha get what I did there) doesnt mean I dont love it. Its a really cool stp hard rock song.

  10. Dumb Love - I think its just a little too rough un the production, but its a great song and has a lot of replayability. I love the "come on out you'll come along" part.

  11. Long Way Home - I think this song is better in theory than in execution. I like the idea it represents and the lyrics. It also has a little of replayability and definitely a grower. Another legendary dean solo.

  12. Regeneration - I like the choruses and the verses in this song a lot. I really like the solo too. I like all the parts of it the production is just a little iffy and the way the chorus falls out of time kinda annoys me. Still pretty cool overall

  13. Coma - I think imma get a lot of hate for this. I think it has one of deans coolest solos. I like the riffs a lot too. Just out of all of the songs it interests me less I suppose. Also the interlude is probably the worst stp interlude pre-solo in that style.

Some more love for shanri la dee da

I love shangri la dee da. Its easily my most replayed and favorite stp album (I love all of the first 5 really). I see a lot of people not give this one a chance and rank it pretty poorly compared to the other 4. Theres a more recent interview of Robert DeLeo where he says when he listens to the music on shangri la dee da, he's moved emotionally (I cant remember the exact interview), and I strongly agree. Hello its late easily has my favorite guitar solo from dean, and its really incomparible to any other feelings I've felt with music. Listening to Too Cool Queenie, wonderful, and Hollywood bitch on a roadtrip pretty much skyrocketed those to my favorite stp songs. Even the days of the week music video is my favorite stp music video. I get that there were a lot of issues with stp at the time, and scotts issues were taking a really big toll. Additionally, the albums pacing is kinda off, but I think the songs on their own are my favorite in the stp discography. I just think this album needs more love from fans. I read somewhere that it was supposed to be a double album, but theres no deluxe version of this album like the first 3 albums. Even if theyre crap, I would have loved to hear some of that bonus material from this era. It is such a special album.

Not a huge purple fan

I walked into a record store the other day and saw this poster of purple hanging on a wall. Im not really a huge purple fan, and from what I've seen of people on this subreddit, they really are. I love like half the songs a lot and interstate love song is a song I remember my dad listening to when I was a little kid. But the other half of the album is incredibly cliche and a little boring. This is my all tike stp hot take but I just cant stand Vasoline. Its too poppy and it sounds like stp doing everything they can to please people. The sound of the album is overall fairly generic, even the best songs are nothing crazy. It just feels like a midpoint between core and tiny music, both albums that I love very much. In general, purple feels like on of their less interesting albums, and this is coming from someone whos listened to all of their albums fromt to back. I understand that interstate love song was a really big deal for stp and 90s rock in general when it came out, legitimizing the band and so on, but does that make all of purple really that good? Im kinda just interested to hear what purple fans love about purple and if theres other people like me who aren't huge purple fans, what do they think?
