What's worth keeping?
So, I love collecting Le Carre's, and I mainly do so through op shops / thrift shops / second hand stores - I love opportunistically picking up what I can where I can. I have all his books but am working on generally collecting hardbacks or early editions, and slowly replacing my paperbacks. When it comes to the Karla trilogy, I am trying to think through what is more "valuable" to hold onto. For example - for pretty cheap I've found the hardcover Book Club Associates editions of TTSS and The Honourable Schoolboy. I know these aren't necessarily worth much (I spent $15 AUD for both of them) but I'm wondering if in reality these hardcovers are more valuable than the modern Penguin versions?
What rubric do you use to value your copies?
