WARNING: This post is some nerding out about Letterboxd features. Also, this is a very minor thing, no big deal.

If you have Pro, you can go to the Cast section and see your Most Watched and Highest Rated performers of the year, or all time. The way Letterboxd chose to calculate these categories confuses me.

For Most Watched, rewatches don’t count. Watch Emma. five times = one watch for Mia Goth. But for Highest Rated, rewatches do count. I rated Emma. 5 stars and Frankenstein 2.5 (watched once), so Mia Goth = 4.6 rating.

Of all the combos Letterboxd could choose, this makes the least sense to me. If rewatches simply didn’t count, cool. If rewatches count for both, cool again. If rewatches only count for Most Watched, it makes sense: you watch a film, these actors are in the film, count it.

But only counting rewatches for Highest Rated? Why? You generally rate a movie once, maybe tweaking it a little over time. Why factor the rating multiple times?

Anyways, as I said, no big deal, but personally I wish rewatches counted for Most Watched cast.
