Staying in the US vs. Returning to Indonesia
Looking for honest and objective perspective on this; let me know if there is more appropriate sub thread for this topic.
I am married (31M) and live in the major city in the US with my wife and one kid. I am currently working in top tech company here (FAANG) and earning >$200k per year, including stocks etc.
I am currently debating whether I should stay here or return to Indonesia, I know some folks might immediately suggesting to stay here due to salary etc but here are my thoughts:
- Yes, my total comp is one of few reasons that keep me stay here. But wondering how does the job scene in Jakarta dan biasanya di level apa orang bisa punya gaji di atas IDR 3 billion
, or at least IDR 1 billion
- per year
?
- Aside from the salary, I feel guilty with my wife because she needs to stay at home and take care of
our kid
and do the chores all day as she is not eligible to work here for the time being due to visa etc. I know for a fact that she still wants to go back to the job market; kl balik Indo, dia bisa lebih mudah cari kerja.
Somewhat related to #1, company atau industry apa yang growing di Indonesia skrg dan bagus utk career? I am also aware that lots of bad news about Indo, but wondering if there are some interesting/growing space in our country.
Those questions might sound a bit dumb but those are the truth. Let me know if this is not the correct subthread. Thanks.
EDIT: Returning to Indonesia is highly likely one way door decision i.e. I won't be able to come back to the US once I return to Indo.
