The Romans built these arches to bring fresh water across 69 km of countryside into the heart of Rome
Started by Caligula in 38 AD and finished by Claudius in 52 AD. The Romans raised these massive brick-and-stone arches to carry clean water from the mountains all the way into the city.
Nearly 2,000 years later, this stretch in the Parco degli Acquedotti in Rome, Italy, is still one of the most impressive engineering works they left behind.
