Guys, I recently shifted to a flat and started cooking for myself, and m facing this weird issue

Whenever I cook dal, toor dal, it has this slightly scented/weird smell and taste. I honestly don’t know how to describe it 😭 It just doesn’t taste like the dal my mom used to make.

M using toor dal from BigBasket, and I cook it properly (even around 5 whistles in the pressure cooker), but the taste is still kinda off and I really don’t like it.

Could it be the dal itself? Or am I doing something wrong while cooking?

Please tell me what I might be doing wrong because I miss normal ghar wali dal 🥲

Nd there's nothing wrong with my tadka and other spices..

Need advice on electric kettle... M

M a student who loves cooking living in a basic setup and I don't want to use gas or induction. I was thinking of buying an electric kettle(like that agaro green one multi cookware), but I'm not sure if it's actually good for cooking.

Can I cook proper food like rice , sabzi ,pasta , poha and all...

And if not an electric kettle then what???
