I try my best finding that one specific article that I came across years ago (2013-2014 I guess) stating that Bang PD was ambitious to debut BTS as a hip-hop group—knowing the landscape of kpop scene was vastly different but sadly I can't find it on the internet anymore.
But yeah, I know some of us are aware of this information but I just want to emphasize it again that BTS is hugely influenced by the hip-hop genre and they are one of the few groups that are genuinely in love and took time to study the music and its culture. Like RM and Suga here are a huge fan of hip-hop so it's no a shock for me.
In addition, I remember watching American Hustle Life years ago and wondering why are the mentors in the show are somehow harsh to them but then, those people really have to whipped them into shape which I'm glad they did because BTS really learn a lot from that show and it shows to how they deliver they future releases and how they put huge importance and references to different hip-hop icons in the industry.
I love loooove BTS’ hip-hop tracks and I'm glad they pick it up with Arirang. This group literally have me on chokehold 🤧🫶🏻
This is honestly one of the reasons why I always feel like every vote, stream and penny spent to BTS is all worth it. They always acknowledged the ARMYs hardwork on their releases especially now with Arirang. BTS win at the AMAs really gave them the reassurance that they still have the fandom supporting them even after that long hiatus 🫶🏻💜
