Nortriptyline+zofran+side effects

Hello

My doctor put me on nortriptyline (starting with 10mg to go up once adjusted) for IBS and anxiety. Yesterday night was my first dose and I have a lot of dizziness/lightheadedness all day, which I expected. I have a lot of health anxiety and I am an emetophobe and regularly take zofran/ondansetran for IBS related nausea. At some point in the night I took some zofran as I woke up with nausea, and read this morning that they don't interact well, although I don't have any of the related effects.

I am now dreading taking the second dose, and if I should take zofran at all, should the nausea or upset stomach come back. The sooner I can see my doctor is Tuesday and I am looking for any suggestions or advice from people who have tried these meds together or had any side effects and how you pushed through. Thank you.

I am confused about how my therapist is working with me.

I hope this is the right place for this. I shifted therapists a year ago as my previous therapist left the state. The new therapist I have is being very weird and I am not sure if I should move to a new one or should I stick with her.

I have health anxiety due to some chronic issues and also generalized anxiety. My current therapist seems kind of condescending about my feelings and I saw her eye roll one or two times. Today I discussed my ongoing health issues and how my symptoms flared up since I saw her last and it's making me spiral down. She asked if I was trying any exercises to help with this. I said I am trying relaxation techniques suggested by my previous therapist (my current one never suggested any, nor did she practice or do any with me in all these sessions). I said sometimes they help but there is too much going on.

She responds and tells me that, it's not like you are dying or none of these issues are detrimental or anything. They are just chronic issues and you need to focus on symptom management. I mean, I get that, which is what I have been doing for several years. I was even able to cut down most of my medication and focus on symptom management and therapy for several years, until recently. What she said and how she said rubbed me the wrong way and my previous therapist, who I worked with for several years, would never say something like this. I don't know if I am comparing the new one unfairly or if this is normal, or if I should see someone else. During the session, she was also spending time on something not relevant to what I wanted to discuss.

Any advice on how I should approach this would be very helpful. Thank you.

Had my second colonoscopy today.

I have been lurking around this group for the past few days and it really helped me. Thank you so much for all the discussions. It motivated me to share. Had my second colonoscopy today. I am 33F. My last one was seven years ago, when I was diagnosed with IBS. My symptoms changed and the doctor wanted me to get another one.

I was dreading this for the past few weeks. I have generalized anxiety, particularly around my health, which started around the time my ibs and a bunch of other issues were diagnosed. I am also an emetophobe, and have been so anxious of drinking prep. My last colonoscopy was pretty easy, the prep wasn't bad and I wasn't sure why I was so anxious this time.

I started liquid diet previous afternoon to make things easier. That, with the low fiber and low residue triggered my ibs-d and I had diarrhea even before I started golytely. I was sore and hurting by afternoon, anxious and wanting to cancel. I pushed through.

I took zofran half an hour before starting prep. I mixed golytely half with water and half with lemonade and honestly, that was not bad. Most of my anxiety flew right out when I took the first sip at 6pm. The taste wasn't bad, I still chased it with some ginger ale. I set alarms at 15 min intervals but I was able to drink around 10min mark again. My diarrhea started around 7pm, and it was already watery and yellowish. I finished half by 8pm, the soreness and pain was the worst part, thank God for some suggestions here about Vaseline and wet wipes! They got me through this. Diarrhea stopped around 10pm and I was able to take a nap for about 2 hours. I was nauseous for about half an hour and then felt hungry.

My appointment was at 7.30 am so I had to start the second dose around 12.30am. I couldn't finish it and threw away around 10oz or so. Diarrhea stopped around 3pm and I was able to take another short nap before heading to the hospital. I was given twilight anasthesia and was out completely. Colonoscopy and endoscopy took about an hour, initial results are all normal, biopsies come back in a couple of days.

Thank you for all the comments and suggestions here! It helped me with my anxiety and also motivated me to finish prep!
