Food is going in my sinus when I swallow, is my doctor wasting my time?
Been having this really frustrating experience with my doctor and would like a second opinion on his "treatment plan". About 2 weeks ago I starting having food get pushed up into my sinuses as I'm swallowing, and the food will get stuck there for the rest of the day causing a lot of irritation. it feels like its sitting in my sinus/pallet right by the back of my throat. I've tried chewing super thoroughly, smaller bites, different foods, nasal rinses, steam, drinking lots of water/gargling, blowing my nose/inhaling super hard, and nothing has helped. I can occasionally feel the food bits shifting but I can't get them to clear out myself, usually by the morning it has resolved itself (likely sliding down with help from gravity/sleep positions).
after it was happening consistently for about a week, and not some freak one off occurrence, I finally went to go see my doctor and immediately he was unhelpful, going over and over "huh, that's weird, foods supposed to go down" (no duh) as I explained again and again what was happening. He sent me to get x-rays done, and I went to my follow up today and he said that the report says the x-rays are all clear (he also flat out admitted that he himself hadn't even opened/looked at the actual x-rays at all) and he was stumped as to what was causing it. So, instead of at that point referring me to and ENT or some other sort of specialist, he instead prescribed me an anti-nausea medication (domperidone 10mg, 3x daily to be specific). I immediately expressed my lack of faith in that treatment plan, as I have not been experiencing ANY nausea or gut irritation (he kept bringing up my gut/acid re flux (which I have not been experiencing, and said as much!)) and I flat out asked "how is an anti nausea medication supposed to treat this?" and he said that it's supposed to 'relax' or 'correct' the muscles in the oesophagus/stomach or something like that, and he won't even consider referring me until I've tried this medication for a few WEEKS!
I have yet to go get this prescription filled because frankly at this point it feels like it would be a waste of my time to try because I don't see how it could possible fix this at all and I don't want go weeks more with this still happening again and again.
Is he wasting my time? Should I go see a new doctor? Any advice would be greatly appreciated
