Looking for 30+ men's players for outdoor adult soccer league in Germantown, MD – playing Thursday evenings.

League is 30+ 7v7 at the Germantown Soccerplex. The team has been around for 15 years now. We're typically a bottom half division 1 team or one of the top division 2 teams and bounce around between the divisions. This next season starts in 10 days and we ask all potential new players to come to a pickup game on Sundays first to see if it's a fit.

All positions except Goalie (which is filled) are welcome. We try to be a drama-free, hard-working team who supports one another. If that sounds like you, we'd love to have you join.

We play year round at Germantown so April-November we are outdoors, typically playing on Thursdays and then December-March we are indoors, typically playing on Tuesday. The fee is $90/season. Please DM me if interested.

Is charging for a quote the norm?

We've been with a freight forwarder (TBGFS) for several years. We do about 20-30 domestic LTL shipments per year through them (and another 20-30 through Priority1 because they're cheaper), but for our overseas suppliers, we've been using our suppliers' shipping and generally buying DDP. Recently, I had one potential new supplier saying they won't do DDP and only do CIF, so I reached out to TBGFS for a quote on clearing the goods and delivering them from the port to our warehouse.

They asked for the 10-digit HTS code associated with the goods, the total value, and the country of manufacture, which I provided. I did say, "but we're not 100% sure that this is entirely correct since this is outside our wheelhouse. Does this look right to you?"

They responded and said "at this time, we must charge you a consulting fee for your request due to the current demand that is requested daily of our Import Compliance Department."

I find this to be unreasonable because it seems like they're charging us just to get a quote, but I want to check here to see if maybe that's the industry standard and I'm just out of the loop. For additional context, I did ask for 2 international quotes from TBGFS in the last 12 months that we did not go through with, but I would think that's outweighed by the domestic shipping we've been doing with them and the fact that until 2024 we did do our international shipping with them as well. Also, they applied for and hold our customs bond - is that difficult to move?
