The Korg nanoKONTROL2 is still great, but the software is dead. So I made my own.

Hey everyone. I've been using the nanoKONTROL2 for years, but when I tried to set up a new live rig recently, I realized the official editor basically doesn't work on modern macOS.

I build studio tools for myself anyway, so I decided to code a workaround. I made a native Mac app called NanoBridge. Instead of slowly flashing the hardware memory, it intercepts the raw MIDI and routes it through a virtual port.

This basically gives the old controller modern features:

  • Unlimited presets that you can switch on the fly (even using physical buttons).
  • Batch mapping (map 8 faders sequentially in 2 seconds).
  • Proper Program Changes and "Radio Groups" (pressing one button turns off the others in that group).

I made a video showing how it fits into my workflow for Logic Pro and live synths. It's my first time talking on camera and English isn't my native language, so I really hope what I'm saying is understandable despite the accent! 😅

I’m sharing the app on my Patreon, but I hate software subscriptions. There's no DRM—if you subscribe, download it, and cancel the same day, that version of the app is yours to keep forever.

Would love to know what you think, or if you have any other old controllers lying around that could use a software rescue!

PS - I don't use Reddit much, so I really hope sharing this here doesn't break any rules. Let me know if I need to change anything!
