BAH Determination
So i’m a Civilian OCS Reserve candidate just recently got selected.
Trying to figure out my BAH before I official go.
I have a son and me and the mother are together and live together not married yet (both names on lease). My recruiter is telling me that I must sign a Child out of wedlock statement I understand that part. However, I won’t get BAH or will only get partial because my son doesn’t live with me according to the statement( and I have to fill it out to enlist) and I can’t show my lease agreement with both of our names on the lease for that reason or it won’t be valid for BAH determination.
Just confused why I can’t just say we live together and that both of our names are on the lease to our apartment. I understand not being able to do a family care plan because I don’t have a duty station yet. So this whole thing just threw me for a loop because I’ve been told going reserves plus having a son who lives with me even if part time meant I was getting BAH With dependent rate.
Recruiter even spoke with their Station Commander who confirmed this all.
