JHB Flights n Stay

For frequent flyers, as opposed to me who's never travelled RSA before.
What, When & How to attain the best prices/experience when it comes to booking flights for JHB? A friend of mine will be graduating there in 2 months' time (September) and I'm hoping to assist her with her travelling plans
I'm not sure as of yet as to how long she'll be there but let's assume 3 days: Tuesday - Thursday
How much should one budget for when it comes to flights and stays (ain't tryna break da bank fr)
- Cheapest flights lmao, I've heard people were able to grab them at under R1K for a plane ticket
- Hotels n Stay etc we can always figure that out as well, after working out flight prices I figure
