Growing in the southeast I'm learning to accept that sooty mold and fungal scarring is a thing we must tolerate. I decided to post some pretty pics and some not so pretty. I try to separate by fungal issues lol. I have my clean bunch, my sooty mold bunch, my phomopsis bunch, and my alternaria bunch.
My twin spine cuttings get absolutely wrecked with alternaria. They keep growing out of it, but I’m moving closer to trashing them. That huge Kimnach log and branch might not be too far behind them. I can’t bring myself to use harsh anti fungals. Sunlight, silica boost, and master blend is about it for them.

Raining everyday for the last two months. Ready for a change in the weather pattern. 60 to 70 percent inorganic and fabric bags and they are still getting mushrooms growing in them.

I keep hitting them with master blend three part weekly and so far so good.
What are the rest of you doing to fight off fungal infections?
So far the summer the only plants in my collection that have taken a hit are my Jimz twin spines, but they get wracked with alternaria (or maybe it’s something similar?) every summer. I’m about done with them lol.

Seedling tips terminating?

In this one (of 10) containers, it appears the tips terminated on most and then pupped. These are about 3 months old, outside on the porch in the shade. The oddest part about it is the other nine containers look normal. Any ideas?

First fruit ever! I hand pollinated a flower on my Nuestra Bonita with pollen from a Coyote flower. I did the reverse as well. The coyote fruits are not ripe yet. Thai fruit split open over night last night.

I would like to collect the seeds. Just read up on a bit. I have a crazy full weekend though. How long do I have to remove the seeds before it’s an issue? Any idea?

How they looking? Seeds popped 2 months ago. First pic do they look a little red? I’ve noticed all my ss02 crosses look this way. My pach crosses are bright green

The Ss02xLJ cross in the first pic no longer has any moisture in the dome so I’m bottom watering now. Good move? Bad?

Took the dome off to get some pics. These seeds popped 6wks ago. Growing on sifted, ocean forest soil that was microwaved for 5 minutes and scalding hot. Seeds were soaked in h202. Once I started seeing algae and mold I’ve been opening small vents on the lid for 2 hours a day for the last week.

The algae and mold continues to grow. What is the best next step?

For what it's worth, at the same time, I started some seeds that I put in Ziploc bags in those white containers, and left them outside instead of under lights in the garage...
Those look amazing right now the last two pics are of those just for comparison. No algae or mold at all and the seedlings look bigger, more green and overall healthier.

The entire house celebrated our first flower tonight lol. We are dorks but it’s been a fun ride since we got out first three seedlings. Cool to see one make it to maturity. Going to try and harvest some pollen here in a bit t

Any guesses how long before these open? My first flowers other than grandi hybrids.

I have six more with flower buds forming, but this one is ahead of the rest… It’s by far the fastest grower in my garden. And resistant to Florida humidity as well. I would love to collect some pollen and cross it with one of my other cactus that are going to flower this year. Does anyone have any pointers or can direct me towards a good technique for that?
