It’s finally our time and I feel sick.

It’s finally our time and I feel sick.

This is Max. We haven’t quite lost the diabetes fight, but my baby got really sick over the weekend and stopped eating. Got IV fluids and an anti nausea shot yesterday morning, poor thing has still refused all food. Vet got labs back this morning. Turns out it’s severe pancreatitis. He was absolutely fine before this, we were just at the vet last month for his 1/2 year checkup and aside from receiving an official CKD diagnosis (stage 2), which we knew was coming, the rest of his labs were normal.

Vet did give us a treatment option, but they’re not very confident he would respond. Would involve constant IV fluids and a feeding tube for a few days. If he responded, the treatment would continue for several weeks at home.

He’ll be 14 next month, and he’s in really rough shape. You can see it all over his little face and I just cannot put him through all that trauma knowing it may not work.

I’ve always felt this way, but especially after he got diagnosed with diabetes two years ago, I swore I wouldn’t let him suffer. That once things started to go sideways, we’d make that call. So today in about an hour we’re saying goodbye and I feel absolutely sick.

Hug your babies ❤️

My cow kitties Max and Jake ❤️

Max is almost 14 and I’ve had him since he was 4 months old. I adopted Jake almost two weeks ago, and he’s about to be 4 months old. We’ve only ever been a one cat household, and for years I’ve been saying I probably wouldn’t have another cat after Max; But when the rescue that had Jake posted the pictures, I did a double take. They look like very long lost brothers 😂 he is the complete opposite of Max in every way, but he’s perfect. Max still isn’t too sure about Jake, but we’re working on it ❤️
