i just finished shneznaya archon quest and i gotta say it… I DID NOT MISS PAIMON! i don’t necessarily hate her and i’m invested in her lore but i wish we could get a break from her high pitched voice more often lol
I watched Karim Aïnouz’s Firebrand yesterday and became very interested in Catherine Parr's relationship with the future Queen Elizabeth I.
While reading more about it on Wikipedia, I came across this passage on Elizabeth I page, which really struck me—especially considering how positively Parr is portrayed in the film:
“Thomas Seymour engaged in romps and horseplay with the 14-year-old Elizabeth, including entering her bedroom in his nightgown, tickling her, and slapping her on the buttocks. Elizabeth rose early and surrounded herself with maids to avoid his unwelcome morning visits. Parr, rather than confront her husband over his inappropriate activities, joined in. Twice she accompanied him in tickling Elizabeth, and once held her while he cut her black gown ‘into a thousand pieces’. However, after Parr discovered the pair in an embrace, she ended this state of affairs.”

I’d like to learn more about the (alleged?) abuse Elizabeth I experienced during her teenage years. Although it seems to me that the general public is largely unaware of it, is it widely accepted among historians and scholars that Thomas Seymour sexually abused her?
How much was known about what was happening at the time, and how was this kind of behaviour perceived and dealt with in Tudor England when it involved a future queen?
And, to the extent that it is possible to determine this from the historical evidence, can we understand what impact these experiences may have had on Elizabeth later in life: on her personal relationships, her behaviour, her reign, or even her political decisions?
