Getting into blockchain: what would you recommend learning beyond just buying and selling crypto?

Hi everyone! I’m starting to dive more seriously into the blockchain ecosystem, and I’m interested in understanding it beyond trading or simply buying and selling cryptocurrencies.

I’d really like to hear from people who have been in this space for a while:

Where would you recommend starting to truly understand blockchain and Web3?

What projects, networks, cryptocurrencies, or tokens are worth studying — and why?

Which concepts do you consider essential: tokenomics, smart contracts, DeFi, DAOs, Layer 2s, staking, etc.?

What are some interesting ways to participate in the ecosystem without focusing exclusively on investing or trading?

What books, courses, communities, platforms, or projects would you recommend for learning?

Most importantly, where do you think blockchain and Web3 are heading over the next few years?

I’m not really looking for a “tell me which coin to buy” answer. I’m more interested in understanding the technology, its real-world applications, the new models being built around it, and the opportunities to learn, experiment, or even build something myself.

I’m interested in both optimistic and critical perspectives.

If you were entering the blockchain/Web3 world today, where would you start?
