Should I read the books or watch the movies first?

Hi! I'm totally new to the series and I honestly only heard recommendations for the movies but I know you should almost always read the books first. If anyone wants to tell me in details the best order to experience the series I would reallyyy appreciate it

The exercise says "read the text carefully and select the right answers based accordingly" if anyone is wandering
