I’m in the early stages of the background investigation process for getting a secret clearance.
My parents are on a green card living in the US and I was born in the US and grew up in a NATO ally country until high school.
I’ve been invited to a friend’s wedding abroad, so the guests would be mostly foreign nationals (all white collar professionals, nothing unusual). I don’t have any concerning contacts or anything to hide, I just want to understand if attending would complicate or slow down my clearance.
I don’t have to go, it would just be nice to attend.
I know I’d need to disclose the travel and any foreign contacts on my SF-86. Just wondering if this situation adds up any confusion or the risk of getting denied?
