Solo dinner

Hello! I am a solo traveler in Johannesburg and was wondering if folks have solo dinner recommendations. I know technically I can eat solo anywhere…so it’s definitely a me thing. Just looking for a chill restaurant, maybe somewhere where I can eat at the bar, and maybe even meet people! I’m willing to go to any part of the city! Thank you in advance.
Edit: I am in rosebank, and eat all kinds of food!

Braamfontein June 30?

Hi all! I’m visiting Wits for some work, and have been getting some mixed responses from people about going down there on Tuesday. I’d hate to waste a day, but I also don’t want to get into a bad situation. I’d be ubering down from the north suburbs. I’m a Asian woman from the US. I’m sure I’ll get mixed responses here too, but just wanted to see.

Edit: thank you everyone! I’ll be staying home tomorrow and playing it safe. I really appreciate how helpful everyone has been!

Sleep med/aid recommendation

Hi guys! I’m in Johannesburg for work, and am running into some troubles sleeping. I want to note that I usually don’t have troubles, it’s just being in a new environment. Usually in the US I take a melatonin if needed but I understand that melatonin isn’t over the counter here. I went to the pharmacy today, and honestly…couldn’t tell which sleep aid was legit/good and got a little overwhelmed. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance!

Everyone was so kind and helpful with my last question about university libraries and winter break, so I have another really specific question for y’all. I’m a late 20s woman doing grad school in Chicago, and was wondering if it’s normal/safe to walk from Parkwood to Rosebank? I see it’s a 25 or so minute walk. I know safety is a thing, from my research I’m not too worried about that specifically (but please lmk if I should be!), I’m more so wondering if it’s pedestrian safe. A 25 minute walk in Chicago is normal, but it’s not in other places I’ve lived, and I’ve had to drive those distances…so just wondering about that.

Edit: hi everyone, thank you so much for your advice! I really appreciate it!
