Digital local elections

My daughter worked at her local polling station on Thursday and told me about an old couple who turned up to vote with there polling cards but no photo ID when they where asked they told the lady they did not have passports or a driving licence or any other form of photo I'd, so they got turned away from voting. The man made a complaint to the overseeing official and said he was good enough to need to do national service for his country. He and his wife had paid taxes all there life but he was still not able to vote. They turned up again a hour later with a council tax letter with bot names and there address. Along with NHS letters showing both of there NHS numbers and a bank statement for there joint account showing both pensions being paid into it. They got told they still could not vote... This is unacceptable when older people who are not digitally aware are excluded from the right to vote because of there age... How many others around the country has this move to digitalisation put off from voting I'm talking about UK council elections held in the UK on 7 May 2026
