S-Video on Funai ZV427FX4 Series of VCRs
I found a Funai ZV427FX4 VCR/DVD combo for a really good price locally and I've been interested in this specific unit (and it's rebadges from Emerson "ZV427EM5", Sanyo "FWZV475F", Magnavox "ZV427MG9", etc.) for it's S-Video capabilities.
Before I purchase it however, Is anyone able to confirm if the S-Video ports on these are actually up to S-Video spec when using VHS tapes? No rainbow banding, reduced dot crawl, etc.? Or does it just pump composite through it's S-Video ports when VHS tapes are being used.
I'd also like to know if you can record to a VHS tape from an S-Video source via the S-Video in ports on the front and back of the device. And, of course if that recording is also S-Video quality.
I'd appreciate any info someone can give, I understand it's a pretty niche use case for something with an HDMI port attached to it haha.
