Which is less bad?
I have a 15 month old and a newborn. Both are in rear facing car seats. In my primary vehicle, this works just fine. I also have a pickup truck that I occasionally need to use when I have both kids. Because of the (lack of) depth of the back seat, I can’t put a rear facing seat on the drivers side. My options are:
- Rear facing seat on the front passenger seat (with the airbag disabled)
- Turn the 15 month old front facing, but keep them in the back seat.
If I go with option #1 is it safer to have the toddler up front or the baby?
Is there a car seat on the market that is significantly less deep when rear facing? I would happily spend the money for it if there is.
ETA:
The truck is a Toyota Tacoma access cab (with the half doors). There is no middle back seat.
We have a Chicco keyfit30 and a a Chicco 360, both of which we love, except for the depth issue.
