became vapor in the open sky,
returned as a soft drizzle,
kissing the waiting earth
before silence
could claim my name.

You took away

except my tears.

even after you left.

on a steep, curvy road

congested with clouds.

They came as my competitors,

trying to be the first to touch you,

but a raindrop beat us all.

The clouds grew angry

and shouted at their friend, the rain,

sending thunder through the sky.

Then you startled and hugged me;

now, I smile at those losers.
