Anthropic just announced that the U.S. The Department of Commerce has lifted export controls affecting Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5.

According to the post they'll start restoring access tomorrow and will share more updates soon.

What do you think this means for the AI landscape? Will this change the competition between Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and xAI or is it mostly a regional policy update?

Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark recently shared a perfect example of how AI is actually changing jobs right now. Anthropic helped the creators of Ozempic sort through their clinical trial data.

Clark didn't try to use fancy corporate language. He openly admitted that AI is just wiping out the boring paperwork that people hate doing anyway:

"I don't think anyone misses that... no one is crying at their desk because they can't be the best back-office paper shuffler."

Instead of replacing human creativity AI is mostly taking over the robotic repetitive tasks that cause burnout.

In a recent interview at semafor tech, google deepmind CEO Demis Hassabis gave his bluntest timeline and warning yet regarding the progression towards AGI and the impending risks:

The timeline: we are currently entering the foothills of the singularity and closing in on AGI.

The threats: Current cyber issues are just a warning shot. Severe biological and nuclear Al risks will emerge with in the next 2 years.

Solution: immediate creation of an international standards body to test frontier system and enforce strict guardrails.
