I don't like how much this fanbase ‘flanderizes’ the band.

We all like to talk about how sad and depressing CSH is, and it sure is, but I think only acknowledging that part is kind of reductive. Like, why does nobody talks about how funny some songs are (America, You're in Love with Me, Open-Mouthed Boy)? Why does nobody talk about how enjoyable I Wanna Sweat and Death at the Movies are? I feel like Will’s writing is so much more than just sad music. And even the sad music is a lot more nuanced than people make it out to be. Like some of the songs off Twin Fantasy, as an example. Sure, they’re sad when in the context of the album, but songs like Bodys and Cute Thing are also really fun when taken into consideration alone (which at least with Bodys is something Will planned on) and I’m so tired of people only talking about Sober to Death as a toxic lovesong, as I feel that removes a lot of what’s really interesting about it (I feel like the song can simultaneously be sweet and romsntic and have toxic elements). End of rant. Don’t flanderize Will Toledo!

Trainwreckords that are actually really good?

Pinkerton is in my opinion Weezer's best album. Still, I would argue it was also their trainwreckord. When released, it flopped, was trashed by critics and killed all the momentum Weezer had after the success of the Blue Album. And sure, Pinkerton soon became a very beloved album, and Weezer made hits after, but it definitely changed things. But it is still an incredible record, among the best the alt rock genre ever put out. So I was wondering, can you think of any similar exemple?
