Asked her to turn the volume down, ended up waiting outside

I had a 2 hour wait at a tire place on Saturday morning. New set of tires. They tell you 90 minutes and it is never 90 minutes. There's a little waiting area with 6 chairs, a coffee machine that only does the hot chocolate, and a TV that nobody is watching.

There was a woman in there with a boy, maybe 6 or 7. He had a tablet going at full volume, one of those games with the constant pinging, and he was doing laps around the chairs at the same time. I sat through about 40 minutes of it. Nobody else said anything. There was an older guy who kept looking up at her and then going back to his phone, and a woman who moved to the chair furthest from them and sat facing the window.

So I said, as pleasantly as I could manage, that I had a headache and would she mind turning it down a little.

She said "he's 6," and that was the whole answer. She didn't turn it down and she didn't look at me again. I put my earbuds in. As far as I was concerned that was the end of it.

About 20 minutes later the service manager came out and asked if he could have a word. He walked me over to the counter and told me a customer had reported that I'd been staring at her son, and that I'd spoken to her in a way that made her uncomfortable. He was apologetic and he clearly did NOT want to be saying any of it, but he asked whether I'd mind waiting outside until my car was ready.

So I stood in a parking lot for 35 minutes in October. My car was done at 11:40 and she was still in there when I went in to pay.
