Lovely cat looking for a new home!

Lovely cat looking for a new home!

Hi all,

I have a cat that could really use a new home. He’s 1 year old, very sweet and cuddly. He’s indoors only and needs a home that’ll treat him with love! Please feel free to DM or reach out through email and we can talk further.

I have to rehome my cat and I don’t know where to start.

Here’s the gist. My long term partner broke up with me, we live together and he’s moving out by October. I’m not able to pay the rent for our place alone, so my only option is moving back with my mom.

We have two cats, one girl and one boy. I’ve had the girl for 8 years, and she’s previously lived with me at my moms. My mom is comfortable with this cat being there, as she’s acclimated to the space and their pets. Mom has a dog and a cat already, and the HOA has a two pet maximum for the complex. We’re already pushing it with one cat, and she’s not willing to have the boy there as well.

The boy cat is just over a year old, he was found in a barn and we took him in since we wanted our girl cat to have a friend. (She had a sister for the first few years of her life, but unfortunately the sister got out of the house one day and never came back.) They’ve bonded a lot and it hurts so much that I have to separate them.

My now ex is looking at moving into a room, since he isn’t financially in a position to afford a whole place. He’s not able or willing to take the boy cat. We need to find a home for him in the next 2-3 months. We have a friend who offered to foster him for a bit, but since he has his own pet he’s not able to provide a permanent home.

I’m completely lost in this, I have no idea where to start looking for a new home for him. I’ve asked friends, coworkers, and family and nobody is able to. I know it’s irresponsible of us to have gotten him without the financial means to keep him at a time like this. I’ve been overwhelmed and heartbroken but I’m trying to do right by him and find him a loving home. Any advice or guidance on this would be welcome.
