Announcing Paper Mono

Today Paper releases Paper Mono, a beautiful typeface meant for general purpose use, from marketing to code to documentation. It's fully open source and free to use for anything.

Paper Mono is a true labor of love. We poured so much attention into every detail. I'm proud of the team for the craft and care it takes to make something this good.

Avoid Amica -- put us in a bad spot

Amica is using AI to summarize home inspection reports. So your conversation is based on hallucinations.

After being a customer for six years, they declined covering our new house -- 1 day before closing after over a week of talking with them, based on things that aren't real.

Our home inspection report had many very trivial things to fix, like eaves and door jams to repaint. The Amica reps kept saying "extensive exterior water damage" and I couldn't figure out why. There is NOT extensive water damage. There are a number of eaves to repaint to protect them from dry rot, which is as normal as it gets.

So I put our home inspection report into ChatGPT. And it warned me about "extensive exterior water damage". Ahhh, so that's where the phrase is coming from!

I asked Amica if they could look at the photos in the home report so that I could show them that each item is basically nothing. No, they said, they can't actually look at the home report. They can only look at the summary their system gave to them.

Amica can choose to cover or decline whomever they want. But if you don't want your time wasted discussing fake AI things, stay away. They are very nice on the phone though! While they waste your time.
