Rosette revisited

Ive been going through my last 18 months of S50 subs.

This is the best ~7000 culled subs restacked and processed in Pixinsight and PiMagic Studio.

Drizzle question

I'm culling all my old data before archival reprocessing.

What will give better results with drizzle, 2X or 3X?

Does that change with S50 and S30 Pro images?

What about best drop shrink?

Thanks!

Rosette Nebula

I'm catching up on my post processing of last winter's images from our backyard astronomical observatory - featuring the Seestar S50 Smart Telescope.

The Rosette Nebula (NGC 2237) is a large, star-forming region in the constellation Monoceros, known for its flower-like shape with a central cluster of young stars (NGC 2244) that illuminates and sculpts the surrounding gas and dust. Located about 5,000 light-years away, this 100-light-year-wide nebula is a vibrant stellar nursery where intense radiation from the central stars carves out cavities and creates pillars of gas, revealing new stars within. It's a popular target for astrophotography, visible with a telescope in the winter months, and is also known as the Skull Nebula.

1374 10 second exposures, stacked and processed in Pixinsight and PiMagic Studio.

Damaged S50

My S50 got knocked over during the night by some animal, and is now locked in place.

I'd rather not deal with shipping it to ZWO, even if possible.

Are there any repair options within the USA?

Laptop question

I'm a multi-Seestar user.

My PC is aging.

Any recommendations for a power laptop that can handle anything from Pixinsight, N.I.N.A. and and all the large files?

Thanks:)

18 Months In.

I started with one S50 last year here in often cloudy Lenexa, KS.

I put in a level concrete slab and gradually got 2 more S50s to maximize clear sky results.

Then an S30 Pro when it first came out, and another right before the price increase.

I keep the S50s on a single target or 2 throughout the night, usually resulting in a combined 6 hours of subs each night, same with the S30s.

Next, I am switching them all to sturdy tripods and EQ mounts over the next few months, in anticipation of nebula season.

Now, time to bring them in and transfer 2 nights of clear viewing to computer for processing:)

IC 5070

Pelican Nebula from last week.

Seestar S50 in alt/az mode.

~2700 subs stacked and processed in Pixinsight and PiMagic Studio.

I culled over 500 subs before stacking with the Seti Astro blink comparator.

That's made a difference this year:)

New S30 Pro

Just got my new device.

I've repeated the reset button 5 times with no progress.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Thx.

Monkey Head Nebula

NGC 2175 is a young open star cluster in the constellation Orion, famous for being embedded in the "Monkey Head Nebula" (also known as NGC 2174). Located about 5,290 light-years away, it's a popular target for astrophotographers, visible with binoculars, and is part of the larger Sharpless 2-252 nebula.

This is a capture from last winter that I revisited today.

2114 10 second exposures restacked and processed in Pixinsight and PiMagic Studio.
