What are my chances of getting into TUJ and receiving a scholarship?
Hi! I’m a rising highschool senior looking to apply to TUJ as an incoming freshman for 2028, and Political Science is my intended major.
My current GPA is a 3.75 UW and 4.15 weighted. I’ve completed 4 APs so far and will have taken 7 total by the end of senior year. I’ve also been involved in several honors societies and extracurriculars and have started/founded different clubs at my school, including Spanish Honor Society, American Red Cross, and Computer Science Honor Society.
I’ve also completed the TUJ High School Summer Program (HSSP), a summer study abroad program through CIEE, and a competitive writers program during my freshman year.
I’m planning to have two letters of recommendation, one from my Spanish teacher and one from my English teacher. I know my GPA and number of APs may be lower compared to some applicants, I’m also applying test optional, so I’m a little nervous about my chances, but I’m hoping my extracurriculars, leadership experience, and previous experience with TUJ will help strengthen my application.
I know the scholarship application deadline is October 15, so I’m hoping to have my application completed by the end of September.
TUJ is genuinely my top-choice school, but unfortunately, my parents would only be comfortable with me attending if I receive a substantial scholarship or financial aid package.
For anyone who currently attends TUJ, has attended TUJ, or works there, what do you think my chances are of being admitted and receiving a scholarship? Is there anything specific you would recommend I focus on in my application or essays?
I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from current TUJ students or anyone who has gone through the scholarship application process. Thank you!
