OK, here is my janky-ass setup. It's rough, but I've logged, probably close to 100km on this so far with no problem.
I've got a length of rope (bought at Home depot) that I have inserted through the, I think, 1 inch plastic pipe (also bought at home depot). The rope is then wrapped and tied around my handle bar frame a few times, with 2 or 3 knots, it's never come undone.
I got 10 feet of pipe and had them cut it, now I have extra too!
I am a climber, so I used a retired carabiner to loop the rope through, and I clip the end of the bungee leash to the carabiner.
I drilled a hole in the pipe, maybe 8 inches from the handle bars, and screwed in an eye bolt. I wrap a short bungee cord around my handle bars and hook both ends, over my handle bars, to the eyebolt. This lifts the pipe and keeps the leash out of my front wheel when tension is slack.
I realise the picture shows the bungee cord under my handle bars, it does make a slight difference, I recommend going over.
I know this is an eyesore, but we just started this sport and I'm poor, so I wanted to make sure we loved it before committing.
The harness for my dog his from Nahak, a Canadian sport dog equipment company, and was my christmas gift for Cani-cross. But I hurt my ankle, so I shifted to bikejoring while I heal.
As I mentioned before, I saw a video on tiktok and copied her antenna, obviously I can't find that video now to share it.
Hope this is helpful.
