Question for the BEP guys.

Anybody not lose their hair? If so, were you 1BEP, 3BEP, or 4BEP? Or was there anything unusual that happened during your regimen? Did you miss a week, did they discontinue one of the chemo drugs? Or do we all lose our hair?

Organ function tests../

All right, I’m heading to the oncologist later today so they can test a few things to make sure I’ll survive this BEP. Probably because I’m older. Anyway, have you guys ever popped a good joke on them while doing organ function tests? I’m trying to think of something clever about why they only tested my left testicle or are you going to test the other half of my scrotum? Obviously, however I deliver it I want to have a sly little grin so they know I’m joking, but I’m struggling to find something funny. I feel like the premise is there, but I believe it’s because I’m in a really rough place in life with all of this, because usually I could make this pretty funny. Hit me with some of your best one liners.

Insight into BEP

What’s the feasibility of reading a book while getting BEP? I’ll start in 18 days and have a mountain of reading I’d like to get done. I’ve heard guys talk about headphones, blankets, and some other things, but is reading too far fetched?

First CT scans upcoming. Question about it.

Brief:
I am 39 years old.

Had swelling in left testicle for 8 weeks.

ER visit on April 28 diagnosed with “testicular mass.”

Blood drawn May 5. Levels normal except AFP(12,791)

Radical left orchiectomy May 6.

Histology report May 12- pure post-pubertal yolk sac “confined to testicle.” No RTI, no LVI. Tumor size 5.0cm x 3.8cm x 2.9cm pT1b

Blood drawn May 14. Levels normal except AFP(2,781)

Blood drawn May 22. AFP(735)

Now on to my question. I have to do CT scans on Monday and the imaging clinic said I’ll be getting oral contrast and IV contrast. Also, they told me to fast 8 hours prior to the appointment. Well, it’s the weekend, and I have questions I forgot to ask when we scheduled the scans over the phone. So maybe you men can help. Firstly, is it common to get both oral and IV contrast, and can I go back to my VERY physically demanding job afterward? On a normal 8 hour shift, I drink 5-7 liters of water. Also, should I avoid taking my adhd medication for any length of time before the scans? Have any of you men dealt with this too? I realize none of this is actual medical advice, but I would like to hear if anyone has confronted something similar, and what was their doctor’s advisement.
