random characters in Into the Woods?
I recently auditioned for my high school's version of Into the Woods, and I got cast as a really random character that isn’t even in the original musical. And as I look at the cast list, I see characters like “Goldie Locks”, “Hansel and Gretel”, and “Footman 1 and 2”. I got cast as a super small role that isn’t double-cast. Can anyone explain the extra roles, and if any of them would have a decent amount of stage time?
Edit: Wanted to add some more details after getting a few responses that I can't reply to (Reddit is bugging and telling me I have zero comments, yet I can read the notification just fine). It is a summer course taking place at my high school, but it is technically through a different company, and it's still run by my high school directors. This is the first time we've done this in my four years here, so I'm not familiar with it. I had to pay a hefty fee to get into this production, and because of this fee, whoever auditioned got cast. But this means that once the cast list comes out, if you drop the production/don't accept your role, you don't get your money back.
As mentioned, I was cast as one of the smaller roles, and honestly, I'm not really sure if I want to go through with this production. I'm not close with anyone in the cast, and if I'm only being used to move sets and to sing the opening and the closing number, I'm not sure if that's how I wanna spend my summer.
Again, this is my first time doing a production that wasn't a typical high school musical with selective casting, so I'm sorry if my wording is a little confusing.
