OLANZAPINE IS DISTRESSING!
My metabolism has been severely affected; my liver has progressed to grade 3 steatosis, and I have developed prediabetes over the course of two years. My weight increased from 71 kg to 89 kg, and my abdominal girth expanded from 34 inches to 42 inches. This situation has significantly impacted my life. However, I experienced sound and peaceful sleep during the two years I was on olanzapine 2.5mg. I then decided to change my lifestyle, incorporating numerous strength training exercises, cycling, walking, and maintaining a calorie deficit. I began with olanzapine at a dose of 2.5 mg, which I later reduced to 1.25 mg, before switching to quetiapine at 12.5 mg. Unfortunately, this did not provide much relief, as it only allowed me 2-3 hours of sleep. I struggled for two months with just 2 hours of sleep after the switch, but I have since increased the quetiapine dose to 25 mg. For the past month, I have been able to sleep for 6-7 hours, albeit with some fragmentation, and my weight has decreased back to 74 kg from 89 kg. I am hopeful that in the future, I will be able to discontinue quetiapine once my sleep stabilizes completely. My experience with olanzapine has been quite distressing.
