I would like to know how is heatwave affecting TMB route ? I assume its not bad as TMB trek is in alpine region at high altitude.

I am planning for next June but I cannot tolerate heat wave like I experienced in August few years ago at Nice. Last year in June just for night layover in Zurich I had hotel with fan which was bearable. But it seems this year heatwave has been brutal. I do well with temp 24 to 26 degree celcius but beyond that I find it hard.

Planning second visit in Sep-Oct, we have been to most of the spots of South Island when we did 18 day road trip from CHC to Queenstown. I had already created post asking for insights from the community and now I have drafted my upcoming trip, looking forward to more insights and refine trip further. Thanks in advance 😄

• D1 - Land and rest
• D2 - Auckland city - based on jet lag, take slow
• D3 - Waiheke island day trip
• D4 - Drive to Rotorua - enroute Hamilton gardens (are they worth?), putaruru spring, evening glowowrm kayak, stay at Rotorua
• D5 - Whirinaki waterfall loop, hot water springs, redwood tree walk in night, stay at Rotorua
• D6 - orakei korako, ernest kemp lake taupo cruise, wairakei terrace, stay at Taupo
• D7 - Waitoma - Waitoma caves lost tour 4 hrs, and reach auckland
• D8 - Flight to CHC and rent car, drive to Kaikorua (we have already stayed 3 days in CHC last time)
• D9 - whale watching, Mount Fyffe, Queen chorlotte drive, stay at Havelock
• D10 - titiranga beach, bay of many coves eyc, stay at havelock
• D11 - Riuwaka resurgence river, takaka via ferrata, waikorupupu springs, wainui falls, stay at Takaka
• D12 - Farewell spit, cape farewell, wharariki beach, puponga hilltop walkreach, Stay at murchison
• D13 - Buller gorge, Pancake Rocks and Blowholes Walk, pororari river track, truman track, punakaiki cavern, beach, paparoa track, stay at punakaiki (i think need to skip few things at this looks packed)
• D14 - Reach Haast - long drive, pitstop at franz josef (already done hokitika, mount cook heli tour, lake tekapo, star gazing)
• D15 - haast pass, blue pools, wilson creek, kidds bush- reach cromwell (already done wanaka, queenstown, te anau, milford, doutful)
• D16 - Otago peninsula, high cliff viewpoint, sir leonard lookout, signal hill, tunnel beach, larnach castle, stay at dunedin (already done catlins) - again I think I need to skip few things here
• D17 - Moeraki boulders beach enroute, public garden, Steampunk, Bushy Beach, penguin watching tour in eve in Omaru
• D18 - reach CHC - enroute Duntroon elephant rocks, anything in Timaru or anything else?? - already been to Mount Somers, Ashburton lakes
• D19 - Flight back home
