What are things you’re looking forward to in season 2?

When discussing season 2 which is based on The Long Game, we naturally bring up ilya’s depression and hollanov trying to navigate keeping their relationship secret and as much as i love all the angst and i know im gonna cry seeing ilya so sad, what are some good/happy things you’re looking forward to in season 2?

international emmy consideration?

I guess based on this interview hr team won’t be submitting anyone especially connor for the international emmy’s? the only award connor would realistically be eligible for. I don’t know the tone throws me off and now people think jacob and the team hates him

Is this hint towards the future of the show?

Brendan Brady on filming s2 of HR

"This is the only time we are gonna have for the long- you know, for a long period of time"

just taking note of the choice of words here. so many of the actor fans keep saying they want the boys to “free” from the show already.

People’s obsession with wanting the actors to leave the show

this seems to be more of a discourse with the twitter fandom but i’ve been seeing tweets saying the boys are “too good” “too big” and they need to leave the show to do better things. They’re already claiming that we won’t get season 3 or unrivaled because they think the boys hate the show and the fandom. constantly tweeting about “freeing” them from HR, hoping season 2 will flop so the show will get cancelled, hoping the boys are too busy to even promote it and it makes me really sad.

Heated Rivalry felt so refreshing and so important that its success still makes me so emotional

HR just can’t be compared to anything else imo. Now that i’m looking back, it’s not surprising that HR blew up as much as it did. The story is nothing like any other, it released at the perfect time (when many queer people desperately needed some escapism), it became popular at the start of award season (which benefited the promotions) and the actors have genuine chemistry we haven’t seen in a romance in years.

HR is such a cultural phenomenon that we probably won’t see replicated in a long time (the fact HR events are still happening everywhere and it’s almost june). HR winning the peabody award only shows how much this is more than just a “gay hockey show” it brought so much joy to queer people and just everyone in general it’s so important. HR had every demographic tuned in and it just makes me emotional every time i rewatch it. I can’t wait for season 2, season 3 and whatever else they give us

Realistically, how many seasons do you think Heated Rivalry will have?

I saw someone on twitter claim there’s no way we’re getting 3/4 seasons because the actors are too big now. I do hope for a third season to cover unrivaled.
