Keeping belongings safe on beaches

Hello friends, we are visiting in June with our son and his girlfriend. I need some advice on how to keep belongings safe while we enjoy your beaches. It's been a long time since I was on a beach that I didn't get to by a boat or walk to from a cottage, so I'm rusty. I would appreciate any advice you can give to us, especially for my 20 year old kids who don't have a ton of street smarts.
I did buy a waterproof satchel thing for our hotel keys, cards and my phone, but do we all need one? Thank you and we are looking forward to enjoying your beautiful islands.
Edit to add: the place we are staying is a stone's throw to both Isla Verde beaches but does not have a "private" beach of its own.

Edit: to the putas who asked about street smarts, there are all kinds of global situations where you don't know the best practices and that's why we ask our fellow brethren to help us learn.

Sushi Den tonight

To the family that insisted that the older couple be first in line beside they were there first...

Pretty freaking cool. We saw you.
